Chook n Boo Mum
Does anyone have a recipe for cranberry sauce which will keep in a sterilised jar for longer than 2 weeks & not need a fridge or freezer to store it before it's opened? A friend has asked for a jar along with some apple & cranberry chutney & onion marmalade which are both made, but I'm a little reticent about doing the cranberry sauce & it not storing well............I'd have thought it would be ok if bottled as normal, just need some experienced advice please Sha x
Lesley
Sorry Sha - I keep mine in the freezer........perhaps if you treat it like bottled fruit?
Blackrocksrock
I do one every year - cranberries, orange rind and juice and port and brown sugar - I made it up after tasting similar and it keeps due to the port and its boiled like a jam = once opened store in the fridge. bluekarin
I made some before last Christmas. Mine is still okay, although my mums, which was from the same batch, went a bit mouldy. I have kept it in the fridge. I am guessing it kept so long as it was boiled for a tad too long. Its a little stiff when trying to get some out of the jar
Chook n Boo Mum
Its a little stiff when trying to get some out of the jar ........so if you dropped the jar you wouldn't have to worry about glass going everywhere, it would just stick together & bounce.......... Chucky Mama
I've made some with port, sugar and clementines. I have half in the fridge and half in the freezer.
