Stuffing!

Recommended Posts

Absolutely definitely assuredly make some yourself. Buy someone else's and you're stuck with what sells, which is either cheap, conservative or both. Venture into the realms of home made stuffing and there are so many fantastic combinations of flavours to try.

Oh, and even sage and onion stuffing, when made with sage from the garden, onions from the allotment and incorporating breadcrumbs from a loaf you made yourself is a far, far cry from even the best factory produce, and it's a crime to mention certain packet mix stuffing brands in the same sentence (so I won't  )

I'm just going to whizz up some breadcrumbs from the end of some bread I made that's stashed in the freezer and bung in some herbs, onion a few chestnuts, blitz in the blender add seasoning and an egg to bind, roll it into balls and bung in th'oven for about 15 mins.

Fry your onions first by the way or the flavour will be too strong.

you could bung in some sausage meat or chopped bacon or cjhopped apples, nuts, whatever.

make it the night before and keep it in the fridge and bung in the oven at the last minute.

Yes definitely have a go at making your own. You can do it in advance and it's really quite easy. I'm doing this one for Christmas this year but this one is another favourite. There's also a good vegetarian one made with pine nuts and lemon but I can't locate the recipe.

would love to see your recipes Lydia but I cant get your links to work.
