Recycling - something to aspire to in 2010!

Recommended Posts

Some of the comments raise interesting points as well.....I think they've done very well and will hopefully address some of the other issues at some point. Returning excess packaging is a good one for all of us to try - perhaps then manufacturers might look at how best to protect their goods without using a lot of waste that isn't recyclable.

Their web site has some interesting ideas. I think increased recycling will be my resolution for 2010. We were doing very well but then I found our council don't want anything other than plastic bottles in the plastic recycling so suddenly my bin filled up again. Food waste is minimal obviously and paper all recycled (except shiny Christmas paper) but I need to switch my focus to thinking about what I buy now to reduce rubbish.

I must say that this year we have taken recyling fully to heart, with the help of our council who introduced wheelie bins & food recycling too.

We were always pretty good......now,while not in the league of that amazing family,we are great!

That said,a lot of people in my council area need a second green recycling wheelie,& while we were lucky enough to get one,no one else seems to be unless they have 3 teens living at home.

Makes it a bit half hearted really, seeing people are filling their recycling wheelies double over for the fortnightly collection.Even with 2,we could still often ue a third (if only for the wine bottles :roll: )

So come on councils all over the UK,help us to do this!!!
