Dancing on Ice

Recommended Posts

Still haven't caught this yet, despite fact DD (12 today) has recently started ice skating lessons and is mad on it. Her teacher at Blackpool Ice rink is a Russian lady called Natalia who apparently won Dancing on ice last year or the year before or something. She is not in it this time as she and her husband Alexi are moonlighting in between teaching in an Ice Show in Cardiff or somewhere.

But you are not kidding, the one-legged Heather Mills is in it? Really?!?

That's bizarre, if not a bit cruel, surely? I can't stand up on ice skates even with 2 good legs!

We watched it a bit last year, but this year I have to say I don't know who any of the "celebrities" actually are apart from Sinitta (who has gone out) and Heather Mills (who I have heard of, but wouldn't actually recognise if I saw her).

I do find it a bit tedious, probably because I did a lot of ice skating when I was young (including jumps and spins and stuff), and therefore can spot the fudges they use to make a "celebrity" who cannot actually skate at all look as if they are doing something difficult.

I'll probably watch it once the hopeless ones have been weeded out.

Last night's show was ok but nothing to write home about although I too was surprised that Gary was in the bottom two. Really enjoyed Mikey's skate and thought it was a shame he had a few wobbles. Loved Jeremy's arms, very graceful but obviously having been a ballet dancer it must have come naturally to him.

I've actually 'won' tickets to see the show being filmed next Sunday! At last after applying for Strictly for years I've finally got through for a show. :D

Just hope we actually make it in. Its one of those where you have to queue up and they ask more people than they have room for.

Well I'm absolutely gutted, we didn't get in! They tell you to start queuing from 4.30, we got there at 3 pm. They have 3 types of tickets, celebs friends/family/guests tickets, applause priority tickets (platinum members - of which we are) and normal tickets.

Celebs friends go straight in, and then there are two queues. We found we didn't have priority tickets, they go in first. Then the long, long queue that we were in are told that you are standby tickets. They would take 130 on standby. You go into a holding place. We were 131-134. So we went home :(

Last week apparently they used 40 standby people, the week before 100. So the chances are that most of those 130 on standby wouldn't end up being able to see the show either. I dread to think how early the people at the front of the queue had turned up. It was so cold.

Still we got to see Borehamwood

We came back, got a curry takeaway, huge bottle of wine and watched it on telly.

My favourite is still Mikey :D

Did anybody else feel a little uncomfortable watching Heather Mills last night - it was like watching a rag doll being thrown around

Hope they get the problems with her 'screw and socket' sorted out - she needs to be rated on her actual skating ability which was missing this week.

Thought Hayley was wicked again.

Please get Dr Hilary out - I can't breathe when he's on

Dawn x

I thought the same, I did actually hold my breath whilst Dr Hilary went round but I think he actually did quite well (for him  ).

I must say that sometimes I think the scoring is very off and that Nicky especially seems to give extra points if its someone he likes.

I won't even go into Jason's awful comments to Sharon

It was very uncomfortable to watch Heather being pushed, pulled and thrown around. Shame really as she had been skating quite well in previous weeks.

Danielle is still doing so well.

The things is when he says something constructive I usually agree with him but he just goes too far when he makes personal comments about somebodys body etc. Last week he was particularly horrible to Tana saying she looked like a frigid school teacher or something. I bet that really must have upset her.

Im kind of feeling a bit flat about the whole programme so far. I think Hayley is great but on the whole the rest of them are quite poor at skating. There is usually a few who are rubbish but funny with it and your heart goes out to them and it makes them likeable but this years lot just arnt making very good watching for me.

I love this programme but there's always someone on there who really annoys me, this year it's Emily - or Pug face as she's known in our household. What a spoilt brat. obviously never had to do anything that requires a bit of hard work and has probably had everything handed to her on a plate. Let's hope she's out soon - even if it means the lovely Fred going.
