Ness3103
i gave my girls some warm spaghetti for their tea this afternoon and decided to video them. with help from some lovely omleteers i managed to upload my vid onto the computer and i've hopefully managed to get it on here apologies for ebony's bald back and scarlet's bald bottom , the bumper bits wore off in the week and they all started plucking feathers again i think i'm going to get ebony a saddle. but they all have new bumper bits on now

docsquid
Lovely! Love the way they think it is much better when coated with mud! I haven't tried spaghetti yet with my chooks.

Eggasperated
Re the bumper bits: how long do they last? Did they just fall off? And how long have you had the feather plucking problem as I'm trying to sort mine out and they are still managing to pluck feathers even with the bumper bits on. Ness3103
Re the bumper bits: how long do they last? Did they just fall off? And how long have you had the feather plucking problem as I'm trying to sort mine out and they are still managing to pluck feathers even with the bumper bits on. the feather plucking started at the end of august, i tried ukadex but it only deterred them for a short while. i put the bumper bits on in october and they've just dropped off. they had started pulling scarlets leg feathers out just before the bumper bits fell off. i had hoped they would have forgotten about their bad habit but poor ebony and scarlet have ended up bald again, so i've put new ones on them. i'm begining to think they're going to have bumper bits on forever
Eggasperated
Oh dear I thought mine would forget about the feather plucking but that doesn't sound too hopeful. Can they spend their whole lives with bumper bits on?
Ness3103
other people have success with bumper bits, i think i just have very naughty chooks i'm hoping having them on for a bit longer will help them forget because i wouldn't have thought wearing them forever was a good thing and i feel so mean having to put them on
