University exam resits

Recommended Posts

I was talking to someone about this at an open day (Nottingham), they said their re-takes are pretty soon after the results ... they were from abroad and weren't sure which flights to book home because they may have had to wait another week to re-sit exams.

Not sure for definate though  ... would it be down to Uni's, or do you still have exam boards at Uni?

Two of mine went to University in Wales, and one in England. The Welsh one was very flexible and certainly had resits which I think were in August. I should ask your tutor Chris.

Are you thinking you'll need to? If you are feeling stressed, do you know you can get permission to take the exams in a special room and get extra time? My DD suffered from depression at Uni ( in Wales) and they were wonderful.

As soon as she was diagnosed she went with a few others into a much nicer, smaller room for exams and she could take as much time as she needed. It really removed the pressure. She got lots of other support too.

She's now doing very well in her chosen career. Hang on in there.

It's completely up to the university, if you look up the exam procedures on the university website it should state their resit policy.

I went to LSE and their resit policy was that students had to wait until the following summer, however, they are the only university to have this policy for undergraduates!

Hi

At Leicester, is USUALLY when the exam is next 'available'. Usually, there is a summer resit for Jan/Feb exams and a Sept resit for June exams BUT some final year exams have to wait a year. It really does depend on the local regulations. These should be written down and available for you to see. DO discuss it with your tutor - studenst never beleive it but teaching staff DO want students to pass and will do everything they can to help.

It depends on the Uni - I taught at Birmingham and the course that I ran had resits for the Summer exams in September, so that the modules could be passed before the start of the next academic year. Otherwise the module would be repeated and you would then re-sit in May. We only did exams in May and September, not in January, but coursework was submitted throughout the year. We were not allowed to hold exams outside the main University exam periods.

It really depends on the course, and when the exam periods are at the University.
