Hi, I have recently started brewing my own beer, i have made my own mini microbrewery. Well then, i made my first all grain brew on sunday and fed the spent grain to my chook, and MAN ALIVE, she went nuts for it!never seen her go so mad, she peck peck peck until it was all gone barely even drawing breath to stop eating, she doesnt go even that mad for grapes!

On Skye they said they feed the 'spent' (can't remember what ) things from the whiskey to the cattle

my OH makes home made wine out of any fruit that is in season. the chucks go mad for the apple pulp especially

um ... my OH used to make beer from scratch from hops, malted barley etc and I was told not to give the chooks the spent mash stuff, and although I can't remember why, somebody did say it was specifically not good for chooks. You might want to google it. I always threw the mash on the compost or directly on the garden out of the way.

The beer was always a big hit - although not with the chooks obviously! He did bitter and stout.
