Redwing
Hopefully it should say how many pump sprays per kilo/pound weight...does it not?

Redwing
Got a set of kitchen scales? joke.... If you have some stand on scales you can weigh yourself then weigh yourself holding the chicken - the difference is the weight of the chicken I'm useless I am afraid, I know my Xeno is 7 sprays but its not the same strength! Egluntyne
**Click** Not sure that you have the correct product there tbh. I use Xeno 200. Neither product is licensed for use on poultry in UK.

Lavenders_Blue
Sorry to butt in on this thread. I noticed lice on my girls yesterday and dashed out and bought Barrier Louse Powder as that was all the local animal and pet shop had. It's made from totally natural ingredients so no need to withdraw eggs. You just dust the birds with it and make sure it's well rubbed into the feathers so it reaches the skin. I inspected the girls this afternoon and I can't see any lice so the powder must be doing its job. It is a two handed and rather messy job to apply the powder but at least you don't have to throw the eggs away.
prof
oh, thanks lavenders-blue i havent tried that
Lavenders_Blue
I should have added that you do need to treat all your chooks. It's likely that they will all be carrying lice, but if not the beasties will simply move from your treated hens to the untreated ones so you need to do them all to be on the safe side. Christian
My weighed around 2kg, so that would be 20 drops. Seems an awful lot
prof
thanks Christian. i weighed pumpkin a couple of hours ago on the bathroom scales and she weighed between 1.5 & 2kg. it wasnt very accurate! yes it does translate to alot of drops i put 2 drops on the smaller ones and 4 on the big un. heres hoping thats right
Eggasperated
My vet treated ours for lice with Xeno spot on (don't know if it is exactly the same one) and put two drops each on them and they weigh just over 2kg, he did repeat the dose 10 days later on Carol who had visible lice but I think this was only a precaution. Unfortunately he recommended 28 days egg withdrawal.
prof
thanks Eggasperated, thats helpful . i will repeat it again after 10 days too, just to be sure i dont know about 28 day egg withdrawal though i may just do a week
