jellykelly
Great!! I love them! I kind of got a little fed up with the slow introductions, so sort of just chucked them all together to see what happened (wednesday). Well, things couldn't have gone better. There was a little bit of pecking anbd chasing around but it quickly sorted itself out. The new chickens just amaze me. Our old christmas tree is in their run. It offers shelter and it's something for them to run around. Well, I went to put the girls to bed the other night and found one of the chooks half way up the tree trying to get some shut eye. I'm astounded that their natural instincts are there even after the life they've endured thus far. I think they're brilliant!! Names so far for them are Molly, Polly, Dolly, Daisy and miss Shiny bum hole. They join my other three which are named K,F and C. Oh, and ............. I've been getting 5 eggs a day - which means that 3 of my ex batts are laying
suebee
Fantastic news. So pleased for you....... Just one thing....... Miss Shiny bum hole???
suebee
I'm sorry, but I just keep re-reading your post in case I got it wrong........ I'm not going to ask!
jellykelly
Yeah, hmmmm - Little miss shiny bumhole! Well, she has very few feathers . In fact only her wings have feathers and part of her head/neck. She came to us with a rather red, sore looking bottom - hence the name. Her bum is obviously still quite bald - but the redness is going. Her name will change as soon as she grows some knickers!!
Griffin
One of my chickens is called Mrs Pants so I don't think there's anything strange at all about Miss Shiny Bum Hole Two of my daughters are called Daisy & Molly so they are obviously splendid names too
Sarahsausage
Gosh you lucky thing! I got two new hens in December and still daren't put them with my other two established girls as they're still cross with them! I guess 5 outnumber 3! Ex-batts are adorable aren't they! I love the way their natural instincts come through and the way they are wary of treats at first and then soon turn in to greedy little things expecting you to have treats everytime they see you! I love watching them have dustbaths too, they seem to be in ecstasy
Egluntyne
I would love to see the expressions on the faces of the people in the waiting room if you ever have to take her to the vet's. Which I hope you never do).
chelsea
I would love to see the expressions on the faces of the people in the waiting room if you ever have to take her to the vet's. Ahn yes now that would be funny as our vets always use our pet's first name and our last name when shouting out in the waiting room! You might want to rethink a name as soon as she grows some feathers

mostin
It is truly amazing how their instincts kick in, after such a life they have had as well. The first time my ex-batts sunbathed last June I burst into tears it was so moving. They love the sun more than any of my other girls, it's as if they are making up for lost time . jellykelly
I cannot wait for some warm sun to come through. The poor things look frozen standing outside all naked! I'm longing to see them basking in the sun on a gorgeous warm day. Spring/summer still seem so far off.
sandyhas3chucks
My other half fell about laughing at the baytril bottle. "for Greedy Bridger" he thought the vet was very brave
