The Dogmother
No, some women do too. I just love my chainsaw, used to have a cement mixer and can service my own car.
craftyhunnypie
Well I used to have a VW beetle that I worshipped & knew everything about. I also love gadgets & colecting interesting artefacts. Hmmm I guess I am as bad as him. I just need a pair of green Docker boots for when I go up in Nifty Norris. missuscluck
I have spent the day painting my mrclucks steam roller wobbling about on scaffolding. I think I could have done with Nifty Norris for the day. Boys and their toys

The Dogmother
You'll have to show it at this year's Bloxham Steam Rally, fantastic event near us every year.
henriette
Guess what we ended up discussing last night? Yup, cherry pickers 150 reasons why my loved one should have one and one reason why not - too costly!! He's just going to have to be satisfied with his 1938 Peugot Motor bike (in need of restoration) which a neighbour gave him the other day
missuscluck
Yes it is a proper old fashioned steam engine. Here it is....The nice house in the picture unfortunatly is not mine Just doing a few jobs on it at the moment getting it ready for the rally season. Its having its name changed at back to its original name it was given when it was built and Im doing some sign writing on it. We can only do local rallys with it unless we can blag a ride as we dont have a low loader. Thats the next thing on Mrclucks 'want' list although where he thinks he is going to keep it I dont know

The Dogmother
That is gorgeous I soooo love heavy plant, especially steam. A lot of the people attending the Bloxham rally actually drive there in their engines; it must take them ages . They tow an old style caravan and a coal truck, treating it as a holiday. Banbury town is gridlocked fro 24 hours before and after the event as all the monsters make their way back home It's a wonderful show (click 'PLAY' to see the slideshow) if anyone is in the vicinity - this year is is June 24-28th. docsquid
That is gorgeous I soooo love heavy plant, especially steam.. I must not show this thread to DH. He really loves fixing old machinery. We still have a 35+ year old Mini Cooper S Rally Car complete with roll cages and everything. We also have a 35+ year old tractor (Massey Ferguson 188 multi-power) that we restored and is now a working tractor again. He's looking around for another project and steam engines have been mentioned, along with other old tractors. Just don't know where we'll find the room in the garden! They tow an old style caravan and a coal truck, treating it as a holiday. Tell me about it. The vast majority of our 'holidays' are spent on a rally field in a tent or battered old caravan. And yes, getting anywhere does take ages. I think I have been to nearly every Dorset steam fair at Blandford for the past 18 years. It is fantastic. If any of you are near and have never been, go!! You name it, vintage wise, we have owned it. This is not our first roller. We have had one before but sold the last one about 8 years ago and after a break for a few years have had a much more sensible Ferguson Tractor and some stationary engines for the shows. I knew it would happen eventually that we would get another one. Cooper S rally car. Now Im Wow. I have got a proper mini with a PINK roof. We do mini runs in it with our local club. Going on him again in a min - I'm going to try & go higher this next time. Emma.x

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Is he a wobbler?
craftyhunnypie
He's a bit wobbly when up high & I laugh. It just tremors a bit - other than that he's not too wobbly really. Put it this way - for me to go up in him that high takes some courage & trust in Norris. It would be scary in the wind though. henriette
I am a little bit envious . I don't have fear of heights as such, though I don't like ladders as I always think I'm going to fall off. EDF were doing work near us a few weeks ago and they had one of the cherrypicker type things to do the work on the pylon. I so wanted to go up in it, just to see the view really More importantly though, has the work started on your chimney?
