Typical . I have left it to the last minute !

The guys are coming tomorrow to lay my concrete slab [ they phoned this afternoon ].. and I just realised that I want to put down some kind of anchors so that I can hold my WIR in place

 

I have seen these:

They dont look right to me but I'm not the most qualified to comment!

 

My advice is let the guys get there, make them a cuppa and ask what you need to get then leave them to it while you go shopping

they will do the job 10mm is a bit on the big side but they will work but I'm not sure if they will if they are set into wet concrete. better used after the concrete has set then drill the holes put the bolts in

but with both you've got to be bang on with your measurments personally I'd wait until the WIR is in place then drill the holes thru the timber/metal stud of the WIR it's a lot less hassle

They know what they are doing and are going to put some eye bolts in for me !

Emchook - if you are stuck, send us a PM. As part of our business we fix stuff into concrete and brick.

 

We favour chemical resin fixings, as they are much stronger than shield anchors, which rely on having strong concrete that does not crack - often that is not the case, although as you are having new concrete laid, you should be alright. Also you will need to let the concrete cure for 10-14 days before putting anchors into it, unless you use the ones that are set in when you lay the concrete.

you will be perfectly ok with some red rawl plugs and some 4" screws, trust me Ive done it on mine, it doesnt move a muscle, i even walk across the frame

mine isn't screwed or bolted down to my concrete base but it would not move anywhere with the tin roof on it, it's very heavy..
