I haven't read anything about them, but I've had a go at making one because OH likes all that nonsense. I've hidden a little sparkly heart under the tentacles. It has googly eyes under its brow too.

 

Not sure they should generally be blue and fluffy, but hey ho! Them were the gloves available to me. I used two pairs, sort of as a variant on sock monkeys.

 

I think my hubby used to play Call of Cthulhu (didn't know how that was spelt btw!) I don't think they are meant to be blue and fluffy with sparkly hearts under their tentacles more like this pic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu green and slimy but it looks lovely and I'm sure he will love it all the more as you made it for him. It will go well with the moose candle holders

I think they thought of those names just to make people dribble when trying to pronounce them. Rather thought the cute thing munching people was rather funny. How on earth did your other half find this? I hope he likes his pressie - it has been made very well.

MY OH hasn't seen it. It IS brilliant though! Sort of the Fisher Price version of the original. Very funny! I might be inclined to read the original stories if they were more like this!

 

OH found the original Cthulu stories like most geeks - it looks like a dragon (ooh!) and the stories were written by a quite well known writer (HP Lovecraft). He was a bit of a fantastical writer/weirdo.
