Ness3103
I'm thinking of buying a Van Ness covered litter tray for my two housecats and was wondering what they were like i've got a covered tray already but it doesn't have a filter (gets quite pongy sometimes ) so, do they stop the odour, do you buy new filters and if so where sorry for all the 's but i really need to be sure it's going to cut down the smell as poor Mali does some really stinky poo's and i'm not always on hand to dispose of it quickly
dancing cloud
I have one and am very happy with it. I don't use/change the filter, so am not of much use to you there, but it's a big enough entrance for them all to use and a deep enough tray that even Tozi can't throw much litter out (and he digs for Australia!). The covering alone does seem to contain some of the pong, but Cleo can sometimes do a chemical-warfare level stinky and nothing can hide that! Redwing
I have one and it seems to work well We have taken the flap off the front of ours now but when we had it the smell was completely contained, we got filters from pet shops, not always the correct make but most seem to fit most trays A really good cat litter really helps too
Ness3103
thanx for your input, i ordered it and it's arrived today, i think i got the xlarge one which is huge lol just hope my two get the hang of the door, they're beautiful boys but not very intelligent bless them
Laura & CTB
I've just bought one of these too - took the flap off straight away though after all the effort training Spit to use the normal cat flap I think he'd just freak if he had to use one to go to the loo as well
DebC
Have you tried using the wood pellet cat litter? It looks a bit strange and when it gets wet it turns to saw dust, but it really is good at cutting down smells
Ness3103
that sounds interesting, might give that a try. have to say i'm very impressed with the Van Ness it seems to be doing the trick, although poor Bliss still hasn't got the hang of the door. i held it open for him today and he went in, did his business then sat for 20 minutes inside waiting for me to open the door for him he eventually figured out how to get out but i think it's going to take a while for him to get used to it
Old Speckled Hen
I have one and am very happy with it. Do you have the dimensions of the bottom tray perchance? I have a lidded tray but it is quite shallow and my cat still throws masses of wood pellets about; quite painful in bare feet .... ouch This looks like a great replacement but I don't know whether to L or XL ... it has to fit next to the washing machine. Thanks xx
Ness3103
i've got the xl and it's brilliant, Mali spends ages in there just digging and throwing the litter around i've measure it and it's 9 inches deep, 17 inches wide and 21 inches long hope that helps don't suppose any of you know how i can train Bliss to use it with the door on i've had to take it off because he's started weeing and pooing around the house i want the door on because it really helps with the smell of Mali's toxic poo
Old Speckled Hen
Thanks, that's great ...it will fit so I have just ordered one. My cat won't have the door on either, that's why I wanted a deeper one. PS your cats are lovely ..... such beautiful eyes and I love that little black spot
