Leicester_H
I do like salad cream for some things (as opposed to mayo) but I can't find any that doesn't use CRUEL eggs - so I'd like to try making some. Anyone got a recipe that they'd recommend ? Ideally, one that lasts in the fridge - or could be frozen as I don't use that much Thanks, H
Cinnamon
M&S salad cream is cruelty free ......might be worth looking at Waitrose too, as they use free range eggs in all their stuff I think. No recipes, but I reckon you could adjust a normal Mayo one, adding some more vinegar & some pepper???
Geoid
I found this on Yahoo Answers: you can make it simply by mixing a bit of either dry english mustard or danish prepared mustard, with some brown sugar and a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, then add 1 cup of prepare Danish Mayonnaise, stir, if you like it runnier ad a few teaspoons of warm water, the cider vinegar, mustard and sweetness from the sugar are the key ingredients Btw, can I call you Dr Hazel? Leicester_H
Thanks both Btw, can I call you Dr Hazel? Why do you suddenly ask that ?? I do have Physics PhD and so yes - I was a Uni Lecturer and my students called me Dr. D (Derbyshire was too long!!) I now work in a Medical School - so it does get confusing !! Space Chick
May be a bit late but the Sainsburys Be Good to Yourself Salad Cream doesn't even have eggs in it.
Leicester_H
May be a bit late but the Sainsburys Be Good to Yourself Salad Cream doesn't even have eggs in it. Is it nice ?? I HATE low fat Mayo - so gloopy - I'd rather have half the amount of the proper stuff. H
Space Chick
Its not bad actually I often use it in Egg sarnies, although I'd rather fresh mayo obviously
Leicester_H
Its not bad actually I often use it in Egg sarnies, although I'd rather fresh mayo obviously WHY - they are 2 different things - I love Mayo for some things, but an egg&cress sarnie has to have salad cream IMHO !!!!
