Lavenders_Blue
It's my mum's 70th birthday next month and my brothers and I would like to buy her a special present to celebrate her big birthday! When my dad was 70 three years ago we bought him a hot air balloon flight but mum would hate something like this - she much prefers terra firma. She also dislikes haircuts, beauty treatments and massages etc as she 'doesn't like people mauling her about' She is not particularly interested in fashion, although she likes to be well turned out, but is quite particular about what she wears so clothes or accessories would be tricky. Oh and she is not really into jewellery. Any ideas from you creative lot.. as I am on the verge of starting to tear my hair out!
chelsea
Well, I have just ordered one of these for somebody special http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.758537 It's a personalised blanket/throw. You send off your images (hard copy or digital) and they pop them all onto the blanket for you. You can even send really old black and white ones - so nice for a memory blanket. They also do cushions aswell.
emmab
It was my dad's 70th and my mom's 60th in the same year so me and my sister clubbed together and sent them on a coach trip around christmas markets in germany, france and belgium. They aren't very experienced travellers so it was perfect as I dropped them off in our local town and they didn't have to worry about a thing, they got transported everywhere, had the day at the market then got picked up and taken back to the hotel. They loved it! I know it's not Christmas but they do other trips during the summer. x

Lavenders_Blue
Brill suggestions so far! Thanks omleteers Please keep them coming though, as I will be having a chat with my brothers at the weekend to make a decision. The more suggestions we have, the more likelihood we might agree on something!
Janty
We did seventy presents for seventy years for my Dad's 70th. We bought things throughout the year to spread the cost and bought large present boxes when they were in the sales.
