EGLU HEAT PROBLEMS

[hibbyjint]

Has anyone bought/know someone who has bought a run from CMS Animal Housing in Lancaster? Their WIR for chickens does not seem outrageously priced - but would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has used/seen their products. Thanks.

Got one on order for my hens from CMS - Chris seemed very helpful on the phone and the quote was excellent. Not sure when it's going to arrive yet so will post again when it arrives as to quality but he does uses 19 guage mesh and tanalised 2x2 timber all of which I think is good.

[northstarred]

Just a quick update from me - WIR still not arrived - there seems to have been some confusion but it's promised for next Monday so just trying to keep my excitement under wraps in case something last minute goes wrong - will post when I get more info for you

[hibbyjint]

I ordered mine around the time of your first post and it was delivered on 18 March. Fully constructed now The quality is pretty good and it wasn't difficult to put together - good electric drill and screwdriver makes the job easier

Got mine from CMS. It's fine no problems.

Got mine from them (now bay-animal-housing.co.uk) and had no problems.

[Plum]

So where are all your pictures. Need a pictures of CMS runs thread. I'm still waiting for a quote.

[shelley8179]

Mine unfortunately came 3 days after my OH went away for 2 months (didnt read the small print about 3 weeks delivery) so will have to wait till he comes home as I would end up doing it wrong

[bigmommasally]

I'm still waiting for a quote.

I got a quote for CMS very quickly, he is a £200 cheaper than avaries4you for a 15ft x 6ft run.

We're still dithering between the 2 at the moment, I'm tempted by the price of CMS but Tony is closer and will put it together for an extra £60. We're thinking if something is wrong with the CMS run its a long way for it to go back to Lancashire. Arghhh I hate making decisions

[hibbyjint]

Fortunately this is a decision we did not have to make as Tony would not quote for us as he is no longer delivering to Scotland - we have had enough decisions to make i,e what hens, what house, what flooring. etc etc However, for us £260 cheaper would have probably swung it - well we are Scottish I have seen one of Tony's runs and the quality is very very good and he definitely knows the Omlet products which helps for placement of cubes outside /egg hatches etc. How handy you are probably should be taken into account too and whether or not you have the tools to put a WIR together - if you don't have then it would obviously cost you to buy some tools - and they would have to be decent quality. Picture attached of our finished run. We got the hens this morning and within an hour the Columbine laid a nice blue egg for the kids next door who were in visiting Our experience of CMS has been good - we had a problem with one panel and it was re-made and sent within a few days - and my OH says it was very simple for a novice to put together. Tonight our first night and not sure the girls would get up the ladder but by 6.50 all ensconsed in

[Ain't Nobody Here]

That looks absolutely fabulous . Your new girls look gorgeous too . Can't believe you got an egg so soon as well .

[Lewis]

Looks really good

I like the wood around the bottom too, could have pinched the idea

[hibbyjint]

Thanks. We asked for an extra large skirt to keep beding in/provide shelter - works fab for that - the only down side is that as we are on a hill from the house we can only see the heads of the hens as they scratch about. Great view when they sit on the perches - need to make more - got some ideas from your photos so

[ValerieR]

Looks great!

I am probably going to get mine from there too - but discovered the co has just changed its name to bay animal housing!

Now at http://www.bay-animal-housing.co.uk/Products.html and delivery to Scotland CHEEP!

[Plum]

Mine's ordered from Chris just waiting for delivery date.

[ValerieR]

[captaincollins]

Yeah I know buts its not finished and wanted to wait till it was done encase you all thought I did a bad WIR but you can see it on my flickr link in my profile, its not done when it is (hope this weekend) i will put new ones xx

[ValerieR]

Looks great to me! And what a brilliant idea using an old sideboard as a spare coop!

[captaincollins]

thanks I got the old sideboard from the tip the whole thing was free of charge as even the old broom handle came from the tip! LOL

Going to get the skirting done in the afternoon after a nice wee sleep when I get off work, providing the weather holds, then hopefully I will be finishing the roof by the end of the month for sure.

Cant wait to get home and look inside my coops

And all my ex batts went to bed by themselves tonight SO PROUD OF THEM

[Plum]

Well done those girls. Good size run you've made it looks great. What type of roof are you putting on?

[captaincollins]

Well half is done with those plastic curved roof sheets if you know what I mean................must of looked like a prat in homebase, then jewsons, then b and q going you know about this high, this wide, cuvery while doing wave montions with my hands I need to get replacement pannels for the ones from the roof I used to split the run. then buy 4 more roof sheets I underestimated! the put guttering up, thats it really. At the moment its half done and the rest has a tarp over it - bit like steptoes yard..............which is what are garden is like at the moment

[ValerieR]

You are far too young to remember Steptoe!
