jlo
I don't tweet very often and only follow about 17 "people" and only have three followers, including my daughter! I have just received a request by a Richard Jay Parker to follow me. I had never heard of him so had a look at his page and it seems that he is an author. Has anyone else had any requests from total strangers to be followed? I think that I am going to decline it as it all seems a bit random but I just wondered whether any other tweeters had any thoughts. Thanks
Cinnamon
Yes,which is why I got rid of it. It creeped me out a bit - I prefer Facebook anyhow
bluekarin
I get the odd one I don't know, but I just refuse to add them. I threw me the first time I got one. I changed some of my settings so I don't think anyone can watch me now.
PurpleTree
I've had loads from people and companies to follow me, I think they must pick up on a word or something, and just send requests to everyone. I don't tweet anything very interesting so I'm not bothered. If it looks like anything dodgy I block them, but otherwise I don't do anything. If they want to follow me they can, but I don't often follow them back unless it's something I'm interested in.
kitchens
Yes I think they do pick up on certain words you use. Its weird because I follow lots of 'famous' people including the likes of Jonathan Ross, Philip Schofield and Stephen Fry et al but when someone follows me I think 'who the hell is that?'! Lewis
They do, do keyword searches and follow you from that, IT and software companies seem to do it a lot, and there are a couple of poultry places/people that did it You can always change the settings so your tweets aren't on the public timeline, and they won't be able to search for them I think its when the celebs reply and follow you back!
