Cranfield Kate
i am still umming and ahhing about what chooks to get next. we have enough of a set up to be able to have two flocks - one of ex batts and one of bantams (one day i will post pics so you can see how the coop system works...) OH wanted bantams with fluffy legs but I've convinced him that our super-muddy garden and feathry legs don't work. i saw the little bantams with the featherless necks at Pets at Home and think something that size would be perfect in the small coop but thought i would ask the all-knowing omleteers what they reckon the smallest, workable, fun to have around, nice and friendly bantam breed is? jellykelly
I've got a teeny little dutch bantam - she's very pretty! She is also quite a character and surprised me this morning by flying down the length of the garden!
patsylabrador
smallest, workable, fun to have around, nice and friendly bantam breed is? I have three little Light Sussex bantams and they are all the above. I have had them since August and haven't had any serious worries, just the usual questions I think. Cranfield Kate
oooh yes they both look nice!
Redwing
Japanese and Serama are probably the smallest breeds, I'd say the Serama is more workable in a garden run as Japanese have short legs and low slung wings Dutch are a bit bigger but very, very nice and would be my choice ooh forgot about Nankins - they are fab too
The Dogmother
I've had both Dutch and Japanese in the past and they're the smallest true bantams - tiddly but hardier than you'd expect.
