Gene has been with us now for nearly 34 weeks, still no sign of any eggs , wouldnt be a problem if she wasn't top chook but she has to have sly pecks at the girls at the bottom of the pecking order just as they are walking by,

as i recently lost my Welbar i'm thinking of replacing Gene with 2 egg layers.

i'm going to give her till the end of March i think, if still no eggs thats it, she's out !

My Welsummers hatched at the end of June have only just started laying so it's quite possible that's she's just a late developer. I've also got a CLB who hasn't laid an egg since last September and personally I couldn't rehome her just because she's not laying.

I have a Speckled Sussex who has only just come into lay at 45 weeks, so don't give up.

A couple of mine were over 30 weeks before they started, so I agree, don't give up yet .

there's hope yet then i suppose although by my deadline of end of March she will be at the very least 13 months old but more likely 15 months old if the age i was told when i bought her is correct.

as i said, if she was a nice friendly girl i would keep her, but no eggs, not very friendly and a bully too, she's not doing herself any favours i'm afraid,

I would offer to rehome her but im in kent... bit too far and stressfull for her...
