I thought I would ask you lovely forum folks about moving animals when moving house. Its all thoughts at the moment, but if we were to move I have no problem with the dog, but how do you move rabbits, especially if its a 3 to 4 hour journey sorry if this is a silly question, I'm sure some of you have moved more than a couple of rabbits before! But I tend to worry I suppose, especially over my pets any advise would be brill

No real advise I am afraid,but if it were me I would contact the local vet to see what they had to say on the matter.

Maybe they would suggest a mild sedative or something to make the move easier?

 

I guess the simple thing would be a nice comfy large pet carrier,heaps of straw,food & water in the back of the car.

Could you move them whilst they were in a hutch. So that they have room to move, a water bottle and food?

Thanks guys! I was thinking of the rablu in the back of the car I suppose if we move I would get the vets advise.But I think omlet people are more understanding sometimes sorry vet people out there!!!

A dark box is best for bunnies as they stress easily

 

Pack it with straw they will be fine for a few hours without water and it is best not to keep checking them as this will stress them too

 

You can get a sedative jab from the vet but it really shouldn't be necessary

They need food though - our vet said rabbits have to keep eating otherwise they can have bowel trouble. Hay is enough though?

They should be fine in a pet carrier with a water bottle and some hay Mandy. I brought mine back from the breeder like that and they were happy as sand boys.
