Size of Eglu door for my walk-in run...?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, Im in the final stages of my WIR, I want to butt my eglu up against the outside of the run, with a hole in a wooden panel big enough for the swing door of the Eglu, can anyone provide me with the dimensions of the Eglu door so I can cut a hole to fit.

I can see that some of you guys have done this also, by looking at the pics of some of your WIR's, did you feel the need to attach the Eglu to the run in some way? Im just thinking of a fox getting his paw in and pulling the Eglu away from the run?

Would appreciate any comments or ideas you may have..

Thank you

I would attach the Eglu to the run if I were you, a curve cut in the mesh and then bent outwards to attach to the washers (as a normal run would) is a good idea or a couple of long cable ties through the vent holes and attached to the wire, the Eglu is heavy but I wouldnt take any chances

Hi I have my eglu attached to outside of the WIR, it is raised on several layers of paving slabs, to attach it we cut a hole smaller than the eglu then bent the mesh outwards to form a collar, this was reinforced it with a thicker wire mesh and attached using the original fixings for the eglu run. Had this set up since the end of last summer and it works really well, I can get in the run before letting them out in the morning, which was handy on a winter morning (breaking the ice on the water) and I can shut them in the run while cleaning the eglu without any help from the girls
