Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Does anyone else use these to hang up cabbage, greens etc in? I was thinking about doing so but wanted to check there wouldn't be any problems with using one - can you think of any problemos??

I think as long as they don't break the string and start eating that, it should be OK .

I use two of them all the time and have had no problems at all (except my greedy girlies would like more!) . Eventually the string gives up at the bottom and I replace them with new ones. They are great for cabbages, spring greens, lettuces, apples etc - anything you'd rather they didn't roll round in the mud and poo before they ate it .

Mine are tied round the handle of a dustbin lid and round the run mesh. Even using two at a time with my greedy-beaks, 10 will last at least a year (and I've given a couple to other people as well).

Do you throw whole apples in there?

You certainly can put whole apples in, but my little monkeys won't eat them whole, they have to be cut in half so they can see the inner part . The apple halves go in the bags along with all the leaves/lettuces/cabbage halves. Now I think of it, they're definitely better fed than I am!

Can chickens eat the pips from an apple ? I know that they contain something bad that rabbits can't have.
