grracee
I set my eggs on Friday (it's only been 3 days and im already being impatient ) When is the best day to candle them? I've read around 10 days but somewhere else said a week after setting them? I can't remember when i candled last time i hatched....

Redwing
i used to candle at 7 days but someone recently gave me the tip that 5 days is a good time and they find it easier to tell then than at 7 days I tried it on my last batch and was surprised to see that it works fine! The heart beat of the the embryo kicks in at 4 days so I avoid handling the eggs before then A breeder though will be wanting to find the infertile eggs and get those out so they can get replacements in as they will have a separate hatcher so can have a constant stream of eggs incubating at different stages If you at all inexperienced in hatching I wouldnt discard eggs at 5 days just in case! In reality you can anytime between 5 and 18 days just dont do it too often
