geb0205
How long does it take for them to settle into a routine of egg laying following a winter off? Currently, one girlie has laid one day on one day off since last saturday, and then her counterpart laid her first ever egg yesterday. Will they progress onto laying more, or can I eggspect it to stay this way? Freck WAS laying one a day for 6 days before the winter off-lay period hit... will she return? The Dogmother
It can take a while for them to hit their stride again, especially with the weather being so changeable at the moment. I see that you're another bantam keeper - they do tend to be less prolific and consistent with their laying Mine are all over the place at the moment. geb0205
Well, I should think twice before posting... Freck has just laid me another egg, thus putting out the "day on, day off" pattern!! Yes, bantams are fickle arent they? But so sweet.... How can such small hens make A. so much damage and disruption and B. so much noise before laying an egg?!
The Dogmother
I fimd that mine don't do as much damage as 'big hens', but they make a bit of noise Do you have any photos of yours?

geb0205
She (freckle) should come with a health warning and ear plugs... she is the noisiest and bossiest of the lot!! (sorry about my spelling!) I really cannot understand how such a small chook can make quite so much noise!
