Snowy
I agree Emma! Even if the weather is miserable, I love stepping outside the tent at first light! Dash to the loo, back to the tent, make a coffee, take a chair outside and sit and watch the world wake up. You can't beat that sense of peace and isolation, listening to the dawn chorus. I wouldn't dream of doing that at home - too easy to get warm and cosy and not be tempted out of it. I can make my tent very warm and cosy but when you are forced out you realise how lovely it is, even when misty and grey. I do like isolated camping though - not tents lined up in a row. Valkyrie
Ah - the dash to the loo. Now I remember why I prefer bricks, mortar and hot and cold running water - preferably ensuite!

It's nice to hear sheeps as well as birdies! As for the loo dash, depending on 'the need', I find an old man wee bottle (the kind they sell in Red Cross/Medical shops) and a funnel and a packet of wet wipes a good way to get through the night til the sun's warm enough. I wish I'd discovered this plan a decade earlier!
Old Speckled Hen
I've just come back from camping. Sleeping out under the stars in Morocco. Wonderful
Snowy
I've just come back from camping. Sleeping out under the stars in Morocco. Wonderful Sounds amazing OSH!! And I don't really need to do the loo dash as we have a proper porta loo. But once out of the cosy nest, it's pointless wasting the day - must go out and see it!!! chickencam
How did it go Fluffyfeet? I love the early mornings when camping. The birds singing etc, but once we awoke to the sounds of bagpipes, in Dorset of all places We went for a wander and found a man half way down the cliff path at 7am playing the bagpipes. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
We had a medieval piper camped next to us in Dorset and we begged him for a tune. Another morning, the camper van across the field played a dawn bugle reveille before revving off in a hurry!
Valkyrie
We have the birds cheeping all blooming night thanks to street lighting. The robin I could happily throttle. Then the blackbird has a go because of some cat lurking. Then the pigeons thud on the pergola and flap and make randy sounds to each other. Then later we get the delights of mummy woodpecker with her babies that peck - or drill outside the bedroom window. Then it goes quiet and then BOK! Of course that's not counting the warthog/lion snoring next to me. Oh for a single soundproofed padded cell (with ensuite).
