kerryegg
After Peppers death on Thursday and 2 days of Ginger sulking I am off to buy 3 new hens. Up since 6.30 sorting out the segregation area.I have made use of part of redundant eglu run inside WIR and borrowed a dog cage to put in summer house for Ginger at night so that the new ones can learn the ladder up to the eglu to bed. I think I will be playing musical hens for at least a week. Good job I've retired. Anyway off as soon as I've fed the dog. Wish me luck please. kerryegg
Bit of a shaky start. Put 3 new girls in a fenced off area and Ginger prompty pecked one through the bars.Slight comb bleed.Have made some minor adjustments to prevent this happening again hopefully and she has stamped around making a dreadful noise all afternoon. Even heavy rain hasn't calmed her down. New 3 seem fine. Eating and drinking and generally scratching around. Hope Ginger cheers up. Meanwhile back to the window to make sure they are ok. Oh the breed is descibed as ranger, look just like Ginger my original Omlet chook.Sadly I can't do photos.

kerryegg
3 new girls are Alice, Amber and Annie. Ginger is still making a lot of noise and there have been several cock type bits of agro through the wire. Just building up tp putting them to bed. Ginger in dog cage in summer house and the new ones up the ladder to the eglu........hopefully.
