Karen & co.
As this place is a mine of information about alsorts, I've been looking up cookers for when we get to move back home, and have been reading up about steam ovens. Does anyone have one or know anyone with one, and what do you think about them? Thanks in advance, karen x
AnnieP
I've never even heard of them!
Sheilaz
Did the Aga go? Wouldn't you just want an Aga?
Karen & co.
Did the Aga go? Wouldn't you just want an Aga? It's gone but it's coming back When we first moved in I would have paid anyone to take it away now I'd fight for it The other oven is when the Aga needs turning off either in summer or when it's being serviced. It's only a maybe, as we haven't used anything else for the last 12 months karen x

My Mother still has her gas cooker which is either '40's or '50's ...(SuperKate, you'd love it), which is brilliant, but I should think that is a rare position to be in. Not heard of a steam oven, will watch this thread. Hope the building is going well, Karen. xx
kannie
Steam ovens are used a lot in professional kitchens, I think. Didn't know they made them domestic sizes too.
Helen
We are having a new kitchen fitted in 2 weeks time and have ordered a steam oven to go in it. They are supposed to be fantastic. My friend has one and uses it all the time for her veggies, fish etc. At the moment I use my electric steamer most evenings and it will be replaced by a purpose built , fitted one. I'll keep you posted!!
