Chick-a-doodle-doo
hi I bought a buff sussex on Monday where she was with the boys! Today we have her first egg but we have no males, will this egg be fertile???
chick wiggle
Ooo, could be if she was 'mixing' with the boys, quite exiting, are you gonna try and hatch it?

Lewis
Should be, and for a few more weeks I think
Chick-a-doodle-doo
Should be, and for a few more weeks I think Really???? So, just in case I thought of taking the next 7 eggs and using them do you really think they will be fertile??? You really shouldn't encourage me! Lewis
Yep. I know quail have a 'pouch/store' that lasts 2 weeks, so assume chickens would be longer, but obviously fertility starts to decrease after a week or so? Worth a try, nothing to lose
Redwing
As Lewis says up to a few weeks but for a week or so there is a good chance I did this with a prizewinning chook I bought who was in with a top cockerel at her old home and got two chicks
Chick-a-doodle-doo
Thanks all, I am definately going to give it a go. She is so lovely it's worth a try. Although, now, I think I may have to still use the non automatic incy (was going to store as an emergency) as well as the other 2 automatics! Gosh, how did I get this many eggs. craftyhunnypie
It's for the next 10 eggs I think I once read, but don't quote me! I'd definitely try 7 - 14 eggs in the incy. Emma.x
