Pesky pecking...

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have a pecker. Nancy. She's been picking on PeeWee, who had an injury but is better now, but she has been pecking at her since her wound healed around 4 weeks ago.

PeeWee hasn't seemed to bothered. Until now. She's started making little squealy noises as Nancy is pecking her and upon inspection a few days ago, I noticed that she has pecked her so badly she's bleeding :( Am very sad. Didn't realise it was that bad for her.

Nancy has been having a go at Fudge too but Fudge won't take it and still has a fab and full coat of feathers, unlike poor Peewee who has a bald bum :(

What can I do? Isolate her? I've isolated PeeWee today to keep her safe but it seems so unfair :(

I isolated my pesky pecker for 2 weeks and unfortunatly she made one of my chickens bleed so badly i had to wash her feathers cuz she is a light sussex bantam it was on show. I eventually had to rehome the pecker and I hate to say it but this might be the only option if it carries on and it will be hard but my 2 chooks left are loving the paired life and they are inseperable and so much tamer now and laying everyday.

Oh no. I hope that doesn't happen :( nancy has made Peewee bleed. Am so upset about it. Should I isolate her in a dog cage? I did this before when she was broody last year.

Yes isolate her in a dog cage where she can walk around and feed her normally. I have tried sprays and they are a waste of money I must of chucked away 20 pounds worth of sprays. I did isolate her but unfortunatly as I said it doesn't work.
