Raina
Hi all, For the past few days the chicks haven't been using the electric hen. The now sleep away from it and only go under it if they get a bit scared they do go to sleep on the top of it but that is early in the morning when it gets quite cold Is this normal? Redwing
If they seem happy enough I wouldnt worry too much Maybe the hen is too warm, try raising the height a bit and see if they re-start using it
LuckyChickenLover-
Sorry, I don't have an answer for you but I was wondering,... What is an electric hen anyway?
Egluntyne
It is a means of keeping young chicks warm. Try googling to find out more.

jellykelly
My daughter saw the words 'electric hen' when I was typing earlier - she asked me whether it was a robot chicken that pretends to be a chicks mum
Raina
I've tried raising the hen and they just don't want to use it! It was 17oc in my bedroom lastnight and they were all sleeping in the run. A couple of them have even started to perch and nod off to sleep on the food dish now too
Egluntyne
Sounds as if they are too warm.
