Recommended Posts

Hello

I currently have 2 light sussex bantam hens. And in the process of building them a bigger area so i can get 2 more bantams. Alothough my girls are beautiful I wanted to get another 2 hens of somthing else.

I was wondering what other bantams except pekins are out there ?

Hiya

I am a real newbie to chicken keeping but I have just got 2 pekins and a serama bantam which is gorgeous and teensy-tiny - even smaller than the pekins.

I read that you can get rhode island red bantams which are friendly and orpington bantams although they are still pretty hefty.

I look forward to reading the replies of the folks who know about these things as I am already lusting after more bantams myself! (Maybe "lusting" isnt the right word but you know what I mean!):lol:

You cant go wrong with Wyandottes, they come in so many colours and patterns are pretty good layers, less broody than most bantams and have a beautiful farmyard chicken shape :D

I love Wyandottes but the problem is no one seems to breed them in cambridgeshire or near me so I cant get them

Ooh another Cambs chicken keeper! *waves".

Where abouts are you in Cambridgeshire and we might be able to steer you toward some dottes :D

Hello fellow cambs person

Yep, I know Chatteris :)

The dotte breeder that I know is over in Northants so I spose it depends on if you are willing to travel (and if the breeder has stock of course)

Northants is only about an hour and half away. Just checked on google maps so isnt too far. I wont be getting these bantams until June/July time so I hope they would have them in stock. How much did you get them for ????
