Unsecure chicken perches

Do tell me if this is mad but......................

 

I bought 2 cheap as chips hanging baskets from Tesco last night (£6 for 2,with liners!) & I have heaps of Sweet Peas left over still to plant out.

 

Would they sort of hang down if I planted them in the baskets & put something else in the top bit the bush out the middle?

Its probably worth an experimental shot,but thought I would gauge your opinions first

I think my nan grows them in baskets

 

Then again, I gave her a pumpkin plant last year + she put that in a hanging basket!

I've grown sweet peas in a basket but I think that was a dwarf variety

all you need to do is to pinch the growing tip out that will encourage them to put new stems out

I have some in a hanging basket because I had nowhere else to put them. We will have to compare notes at the end of the season.

I grew tomatoes upside down in hanging baskets last year and they worked fine.
