Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I wanted to ask if Xeno 200 would kill scaley leg mite.

I don't know why it's locked.

I did read yesterday that spraying the chickens legs with Johnsons anti mite and then smearing them in vaseline would do the trick.

...and yes, I believe Xeno 200 would kill scaley leg mite, but maybe a dipping in surgical spirit or scaley leg spray just to doubly (sp) sure?

Xeno 200* is a preventative medication for lice and mites, however the ingredients don't protect against all types of mites.. Northern Fowl Mites and Scaly Leg Mites are included in this. I use Ivomec Eprinex* as a preventative and find it to be excellent at preventing infestations of all types of critters.

 

I also use the Johnson's Spray*, or the NetTex Mite Kill Spray* on their legs.

I've sprayed them all with Xeno 200 sprayed their legs with scaley leg mite spray and coated them with vaseline. However they still have raised scales. How can i be sure i've got rid of them all? Also should i do a full bedding run change? Do scaley leg mites live in bedding?

I dont think they live in the bedding

 

the scales will be raised until they moult off when the hen moults so its hard to tell if its actually gone. I treated my cockerel a few times just to be sure

Spread by wild birds I think.

They pick up the mites around your garden as they are shed from the legs of wild birds - pigeons are the worst culprits. A quarterly preventative programme and spraying is best to keep on top of it.
