Newbie here! and disappointed with my 'Go'

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am a newbie, and have no chickens yet! I have wanted to keep chickens and get an eglu ever since I saw them at a show about 4 years ago. I have been saving like mad to afford one now that we have a garden thats suitable for chickens, but was confused as to which to type to get when the new eglu 'Go came out.

I liked the fact that it was a bit cheaper, and it seemed a good idea to just have one door at the back that gives you access to everything (We have also ordered a walk in run with a eglu hatch to access the back).

So, I ordered an Eglu 'Go' and it arrived yesterday. It came flat pack and my husband and I put it together last night. We found that it looked a bit cheap, the plastic not being great quality and it just wasn't what I expected for £230. Also, I found the pull out tray to be very large, a bit tricky to manoveure on a daily basis.

I think perhaps it was more reasonably priced before when it was £175 when it first came out. So I ended the night feeling very disappointed that I'd decided on the 'Go'.

I phoned omlet today and explained what I felt about the 'Go' and they were great about it and offered a refund straight away. I have now ordered an Eglu classic which I wish I had gone for in the first place, its coming next Friday. And for another £30 I think it will be worth it, and I get to order it in purple, my favourite colour!

My run is coming in 3 weeks and I can't wait! In the mean time, we are clearing a space at the bottom of the garden for the paving slabs to go in preparation.

Then all thats left to do is decide on what chooks to get! I still can't decide between POL hybrids or rescue battery hens, I keep changing my mind!

I can see I will be asking so many questions as the days until I can the chooks arrives, I'm very excited already though!

I have to say I agree with your decision to change for the classic. I saw a GO up close and personal last weekend and it's not as sturdy as the classic. It's still a great product but considering there is the classic there to buy aswell, I would have always gone with the classic over the GO. :) Just my opinion though..

I have a bit of purple envy :lol: I love the purple colour.
