rachael_farnsworth
I collected Artemis and Athene (speckled star and sussex star) this morning and they're settling in beautifully in their run: So far all going fine but I've just had a thought - was I supposed to put them straight in the Eglu? Or will they take themselves off to bed this evening? I hope so cos I'm not sure how I'm going to get in there to put them in... Loving them already - Artemis (speckled) is definitely the boss and the chattiest, while Athene (sussex) is much more relaxed; in fact they think she's very close to laying, and if I look out the window I can see her quite serenely sitting under the 'sun' (hoho!) shade... Daphne
Firstly congratulations on your new girls When it gets to dusk if they haven't gone into the eglu try putting a torch in there so the light shines out; this gives them the idea of where they are supposed to go. If this doesn't work, you may have to resort to some gentle prodding with a stick/branch/broom handle whatever to usher them in the right direction. They should be OK on Night 2 and definitely by Night 3!
Laura & CTB
Yay - congratulations on getting your girls The torch idea works really well if they dont know where to go to bed although bear in mind they might not want to go to bed until about 8.30ish good luck I'm sure they'll be fine. Chicken Shirl
How did it go? Were they good girls, or did you have to give them a hand to see where they had to go to bed. Congratulations on your new chooks. Piccies please

rachael_farnsworth
Thanks all! They put themselves to bed at about 2045 - I was so proud of them Elphie the cat was sat close to the eglu and gave me a look which was clearly meant as 'three stories I had to read them. Three. They're worse than you two...'
