Sorry to hear about your chook being a bit off colour they are such a woory arent they?! :?

Has she been eating & drinking? Is her crop full at night and empty again in the morning?

Also was she always a good layer and has she recently stopped?

It is always hard trying to work out whats wrong with your chook is she isnt feeling herself so post as much information as you can so we can offer more detailed advice. :D

ok she has been through the henopause about 3 months ago, her crop is very soft. there is something in there but almost watery!

also something in the crop that feels like a stone the size of a large brad bean

The first part of your observations makes me think it might be sour crop - does her breath smell at all? :?

As well as the baytril I would tempt her with some live natural yoghurt with bokashi bran. Also make a visit to your local fishing supplies shop and get a pint of white maggots - a good treat and also might help get rid of the 'stone' like blockage you can feel.

thanks herd,

I was thinking the same so i have started the yogurt last night and am getting some maggots today.

How much yogurt should i give her?

She is looking a bit perkier today but I am not sure if that is the wormer, antibiotics, yogurt or the pampering!
