Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

Please indulge my being a bit thick today... I think my ladies would enjoy having a dust bath and I've got a suitable tray kicking around - what do I put *in* it though? Sand?

 

In other news, Artemis and Athene explored the garden for the very first time today and ate out of my hand! It was sort of tickly and I liked it They are *loving* dandelions. Which is good because I have loads of them. Just trying to get them used to being handled now...

I use a mix of sand, compost and diatom in my girls dust bath.

I use wood ash from our fire, with a sprinkling of red mite podwer!

My chickens free range, and just dust bathe in either my neighbours fire (expecially cheryl ) or in the grass heep, which they find bugs in, or dry mud near the trees. i haven't got a 'man made' dustbathe. (well maybe the bonfire is..)

I use play sand mixed with a bit of mite powder. To be honest they just ignore it.

I had a dustbath which the girls emptied out and sat in it empty. As they are on Easibed on soil I find they just dig a hole and bathe in that in the run or under the trees when FR.

I filled a cat litter tray with compost and sand and they scoffed most of it!

They make their own dust baths in my borders (having flung all the bark out of the way)
