Thought you would like to see photos of the run Tony of Aviaries4U built for us last Thursday. He certainly is a speedy gonzales - the run was erected in 1.5 hours - I've never seen a drill move so fast. And because DH used fancy tiles to match the ones already there (even though they will be under bedding) it created small gaps here and there so Tony added a few bits of spare timber to the insides of the run to negate any gaps. It's nice to know that there are still craftsmen who will turn up when they say they will and give a great service.

And thanks to all those who posted photos of their runs on the forum as it really helped me to create a practical run that's fit for the purpose.

Please excuse the tarpaulins hanging there - we've had a lot of rain over the last couple of days. Dimensions of the run are 3m x 1.5m x 2m. Can't wait until next Thursday when my chickens and Eglu arrive.

Sorry for posting links to Flickr but I did try to embed the html coding but the photos would not show on preview and the instructions on how to do this, which someone posted on this forum, are no longer available.

That's a beautiful run, I am in two minds about having it green (OH's wish) but having seen yours I've changed my mind. 8)

Your new girls will love those veg beds better make sure you have a double lock on the run

Too right Plum and Rachel. Got some Omlet netting arriving with the chickens. There is a wide ditch about 12m long to the side of the run which they can have when it's dry. It will be dust bath heaven for them. DH has just finished stapling 1x0.5 weld mesh against the fence to deter rats and keep the chickens from digging under it.

1.5 hours! He must have a super duper powerful drill. Took hubby and I a lot longer than that to erect our Tony! Congrats - and I like your classic table (I assume that's what the hatch is for). Very posh! Nice colour too...

Mine's nearly built now - even though Tony delivered 2 months ago practically! Alas he couldn't stay to erect it (that and the fact that we had no base laid at the time). Has he got himself a new courier company in the meantime do you know?

Good luck to other people getting Tony's!

Cheers. D

Looks lovely - and isn't Tony one of the nicest people you could do business with, I'd like to order one all over again!

My run is also next to my greenhouse, although both (run and greenhouse) look slightly smaller than yours. If you love yours as much as I love mine you'll be a very happy chook-keeper - having a walk-in run is wonderful for me and for the hens.

Donna I'm afraid I don't know if Tony has another courier company to replace the one he is using. But I do know that the forum members are keeping him busy.

Olly - Tony is indeed a lovely guy and customer satisfaction is important to him. And that table is the standard one I ordered from Tony - I just painted the top to match and it will take the Eglu Classic.

Torrin - Only 1 day to go now. Hope you don't mind getting up early - Tony likes a early start.

I originally was going to have just the Eglu and run but having spent hours reading all the forum posts I was soon convinced that a WIR was the thing to do if you could afford it. Thanks particularly to Aint "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here whose pictures of her run on Flickr first inspired me and Debs (Space Chick) whose webcam has kept me entertained and given me a better idea of just what chickens do get up to in a run.

You're not kidding!

He arrived at mine (in Somerset) by 7.30am - from Cambridgeshire. You can do the maths :shock:

We were only just up and dressed ourselves!

Good luck Torrin.

Was here by 7.30am - luckily I was up and ready, and the kids had a great time running around after him watching construction and asking lots of annoying questions before I had to take them to school :D

Just doing the sloping roof now - boy, that man works fast!

Will post some pictures later on a new thread so I don't hijack this one any longer!!
