Margalot
We had moved our chickens run to include a mature ornamental cherry tree which looks beautiful with all its blossom, however they have taken to eating all the fallen petals and hoover them up as fast as they fall It certainly has been keeping them busy, and we have had no ill effects, so I take it its not bad for them??? Really funny to watch them chase the fluttering petals and gobble them up!

skye
Mine ate a whole fern which is supposed to be poisonous, and half a polysterene plant pot yesterday, and today they've started on our blackberry leaves skye x

Luvachicken
mine love the cherry blossom too, they ate it so well that i didn't need to tidy up. This year though they are not running around as they are in their play area so I've been collecting it for them and they have been pleased. Margalot
I know it looks so strange, not a single petal in their free ranging run! the minute I let them out they rush to gobble it all up! Maybe their bottom feathers will grow back now they are preocccupied
Tweety
My girls love it too - and forsythia flowers. They have been racing out of the run every morning - even more determinedly than usual - for the last few days, and I have only just realised that they are after the fallen forsythia flowers. Those that haven't fallen off the shrub, and are within chicken-jumping height, are knocked off and consumed immediately. So funny to watch - I love it when they jump!
