Yippee!! we have cheeping & a hole!!

Recommended Posts

Just had to share our first signs of our babies hatching.......I know you have heard it all before but it's so exciting.

We have 2 that have made a small hole & are singing away to us, hopefully the other 6 will follow soon.

Am I right in thinking that we probably won't see a chick till this evening, as I really don't want it to happen while my daughter is at school!

We were both on our knees yesturday talking to them when we both burst out laughing at how funny we must look talikng to a box of eggs!

I will post somewhere else about a problem that I have with badgers.

The first one is really big & strong.

It also looks like a boy but maybe thats just me being worried!

The best bit is the little coocoo bantam that we accidently bashe & used nail vaernish has strated to hatch. WOW!!

Fingers crossed it will be ok as it's the one I wanted the most.

Keep you posted.

Thanks!! Luckily we will still see the boys or girls at the stables where we keep the mare & foal as thats where the ones we dont keep will go.They came from there as eggs & will have a fab, very free range life.

Wouldn't it be nice if we just had 3 0r 4 girls then we wouldnt have to choose!

Back to chicken watch.......not getting on with anything else today!

What a fantastic eggsperience!!

We have 3 super fit , eating & drinking in the brooder,

Then in the inccy , 1 has just hatched & is shouting its head off already, 1 has a large hole & is shouting , 2 have small cracks but not doing much.

That leaves 1 that I could not see through the shell as it was so dark which has not done any thing yet.

We will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks for all of your helpful advice. If it wasn't for you then little tiny Clarissa ( who was the crack & nail varnish one) would not have been allowed to hatch......Its the most lively of the lot!!

Now..............about that cube I will have to buy.............

The final count is Six lovely healthy chicks.

2 eggs didn't hatch, I went in the wardrobe & candled them this morning & they had stopped a while ago as there was no formed chick to see.

I will post pics soon as I now have to wrench my self away & travel up to the hospital in London.

How on earth do you get anything done when there are baby animals around. Our foal is 2 months old & a great time waster.

we have no food in the house( except chick crumb!)

I have a stiff neck from sitting on the floor all night watching the babies & my daughter & I have a permenant grin on our faces!!
