power cut with 14 eggs in!

Recommended Posts

All depends how long the power was out. When hatching with a broody hen, she'll get off the eggs for 15-20mins each day to take a comfort break without any undue harm to the eggs/hatchlings. More than that, and then it can become a problem. You're only half-way through, so keep going, and candle if possible in another 5 days time.

It depends on how well built and insulated the inccy is

If you opened the lid at all that would have had a severe effect. If you didnt and the inccy is a decent one you may well be ok

The longer the eggs have been in the better as they can retain a bit of heat when the embryo is bigger so you wont have the best chance of sucess overall

Fingers crossed

A month ago I had power cut, for 5 ½ hours I wasn't at home, there were 26 eggs in it, 26 hatched "well one died shortly after hatching" I couldn't believe it I don't expect you to believe it either but it did happen, the eggs were 18 days when I had power cut.

I was outside, when I came home there was no electriciy, I knew it was 5 ½ hours from the letter of my electricity provider warning of the power cut “I didn’t read it in time “ “thankfully”.
