Lavenders_Blue
I was woken this morning by the delightful sound of "bok bok bok BWAAAAAAARRRRK" streaming through the double glazing. The girls do sometimes get a bit shouty when they have had enough of being in their run and want to be let out of a morning (they sleep with the coop door open at the moment). Thinking it must be getting on for 7am I stumbled out of bed and prepared myself to let them out. I happened to glance at the clock. It was 4.43am. Needless to say I went back to bed Hope the neighbours enjoyed this morning's alarm call as much as I did!
patsylabrador
That's very laid back and cool of you. I'd have been in a panic, making a big girlie fuss. I think we've got a fox den at the end of the garden, I can hear something ripping the fence apart and they've been shouting a lot for the last few days. Tulip
We're going away for a couple of nights today so having to leave the pophole open and I have visions of Keema marching his girls out of the coop at 4am and finally tipping the neighbours over the edge
ISCA
Mine are staying cooped in until 7am. They can shout if they want, I shan't hear them Luckily the pop hole opens automatically at 7. Whoever designed the automatic pop hole opener device deserves a medal in my opinion
Lavenders_Blue
I had been keeping the girls shut in their house until 6.30-7am but I could still hear them shouting! So figured they might as well be out and about in their run with something to eat and drink. Oh and this morning it was 5.40am when they started up - practically a lie in! Whoever designed the automatic pop hole opener device deserves a medal in my opinion how much are the automatic openers? i am thinking of getting one!! £108.99. They come with a light sensor so it opens at dawn and closes at sunset but you can also get a timer so you have more control (but that costs an extra £43.99). They are called VSBi. here is a limk... http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/acatalog/VSBbi_Automatic_Door_Opener.html?gclid=CL69qL_I5qECFVgA4wodEVsCJw http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/acatalog/Timer_for_VSB_automatic_Doors.html#a16
Mollie333
Wow, haha. I'd have done the same. They want letting out at 6:00am, but not to free rang as we ALWAYS get a visit from the fox around that time!
Lavenders_Blue
It was 4.47am this morning As I didn't want the entire neighbourhood being woken up every 5 minutes on a Sunday morning I stumbled downstairs and let them out of the run. Well, I say they, what I actually found when I got outside was 3 chickens still in bed and Dorothy pacing up and down the run by herself heralding the arrival of a new day! Guest
My girls are getting earlier and earlier aswell. I think 1.because of the sun and 2.they have 2 new MD companions and still dont like sharing the bed with them. The sun isnt good for people who either work or have exams for the next week everyday like me
sandyhas3chucks
Am I the only one loving the bright, sunny, early mornings with my girls? I am waking up at 5.30 and waiting for the girls to wake up at 6am to get up with them the birds are singing their socks off, and the weeding is getting done. Mine are "good girls" tho after an hour out they are happy to return to the comfort of real FOOD in their Run.
Lavenders_Blue
Sandy, you can have my girls for a bit if you like! No need for you to wait for them to get up, they will even give you an alarm call to let you know that dawn is breaking. Actually, I didn't hear a peep from them this morning Bloomin' crows woke me up at 5am though
