Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Why do my onion sets never make a bulb, they just grow like spring onions?

It would still be a bit early for them to be very oniony at the moment - mine won't be ready for a month or so,& still look a bit pathetic.

lack of feed or water is one cause planting to late is another. mine are uselly down to poor weeding

I thought that last year because I was experimenting with seeds as opposed to the sets. Then all of a sudden they turned really big when I wasn't looking. Even dug some up over winter (left them in the ground accidentally because I didn't spot them under the celeriac) and they were fine. Not that I recommend leaving them in the ground - they can rot and that's not good.

Mine are looking particularly pathetic at the moment as I was late setting them out - they'll catch up eventually though, they always do. I'm sure yours will be fine if you give them time.

I've got an onion problem now. Mine have always been ok in the past...

 

With the warm weather and loads of rain, loads of mine are going to seed. I don't know what to do with them. Any ideas ?

Snip the seed heads off, keep them well watered & they should be fine

as Cinnamon says but use them first as they become big enough as they won't store
