ali-s
Good for you Alison. One bit of advice.. get a decent sports bar! the number of women who I see jogging with their breast bouncing away - it can't be comfortable, and certainly isn't good for those boobies... get them tethered! A sports bra was the first thing I bought when I was thinking about running. It is a good one, my boobs stay put even when I jump up and down. All I need now is something similar for my bum. The Dogmother
* crying with laughter* Seriously though - a friend runs a lot and has never worn a proper sports bra - her boobs are showing it now! If you are a larger girl, then wear a sports bra with one of those sports crop tops over it - keeps it all nicely in place.
Redwing
....then wear a sports bra with one of those sports crop tops over it - keeps it all nicely in place. I used to play polo and had to do that to keep everything in one place
The Dogmother
I'm not surprised, you of ample boobage!!! Seriously though, it never fails to amaze me the number of women who exercise without adequate booby support - it can be very uncomfortable. Old Speckled Hen
I remember this thread I was going to say that New Balance were great for me. a friend runs a lot and has never worn a proper sports bra - her boobs are showing it now . Running makes your face sag too I read somewhere that runners get jowly quicker than non-runners. My DH loses toenails when he's fell running. I've picked him up at the end of a race on more than one occesion and he's left a toenail or two behind in his socks when he takes them off in the car
The Dogmother
I've lost one or two before, as has Chucky Mama. My knees don't let me run far these days.
Ain't Nobody Here
Well done on the running . You must be a sight for sore eyes all dressed in pink . On the toenail front, I wish my OH WOULD lose his toenails. But no, they just go black but stay put .
Kirstine
I was feeling quite encouraged to get out running again until the bit about the toenails! Mind you, if I don't get running soon I will be unable either to see or reach my toes anyway.
sparkysmum
Ali, Hi, just found this thread. Good luck with the running, here's to you staying injury free . Don't forget www.sweatshop.co.uk for cheap gear. They have a sale on just now & basic ladies stuff is quite cheap. There's a womens running magazine too which is pretty good - doesn't have any of the macho blokey stuff in it Oh one more thing - music - much better to run with than without, wither its the radio or fav running music. Good luck & keep us posted. Alli xx
The Dogmother
I bought some new trainers at the weekend and tried them out at circuit training last night. I took my old pair just in case, but they were fine They have arch supports to stop me pronating (rolling inwards) when I run. It always takes me a while to find some that I like as I hate white/pink/blue ones and have small feet; usually end up buying boys trainers. ali-s
Chickened out of my run this morning Woke up to heavy rain which wouldn't really bother me now I have my Pink jacket and was all set to go when the farmer and his gang came down the lane with many tractors, trailers and fork lift vehicles. They are bringing the straw bales into the big barn, the lane is very narrow so not enough room for me and the farm vehicles. They are still working away. I haven't got an i Pod or any sort of MP3 player so I can't listen to music when I run. I haven't even got a watch so can't monitor myself running and walking. I did think about using my digital kitchen timer it is small and would fit in my hand but the battery is flat and I don't have a spare. Also need to get a hat to keep the rain out of my eyes I am not very well prepared am I?
Kirstine
My DH got me a really cheap MP3 player at christmas with the intention of upgrading if it helped my running - and it did! Haven't seen any sign of my upgrade yet though ... I have also had to time myself by my phone when my watch died and I was left with a dainty dress watch with no numbers or second hand! Again a cheapy watch sorted me out.
sparkysmum
Ali, I run with a radio - a little Sony which is not much bigger than a battery. I listen to Sarah Kennedy & Chris Evans during the week & Aled Jones on a Sunday morning. The latter kind of makes up for not having been to church for far far too long.
