Busybird
If any of you have seen the Omlet stand at a show you will have admired and coveted their fluffy chickens. Driving to our campsite in the New Forest last week we were stuck in traffic when I spotted some in a shop window - I got embarrassingly excited shouting out 'LOOK! it's the Omlet chickens!!' Next day we got on our bikes and cycled to the town - the kids didn't even whinge at the prospect of a 12 mile cycle ride as I was on a mission to buy a fluffy chicken They talked excitedly about how much money they had in their money boxes, if we should get one each and what colours they might have. However, the shop turned out to sell such 'toys' as Steiff bears... and the gorgeous chicken I had set my heart on was £45 Even the little ones were £26. I came away empty handed With chicken keeping becomming more popular I'm sure some toy manufacturer should be making lifelike cuddly chickens for a bit less money than that... Chook n Boo Mum
The obsession is spreading through the family .......was that a shop in Lyndhurst? Lovely little town, though I've never ventured into that shop Sha x
craftyhunnypie
Have you tried looking on ebay ? There might be a second hand one going. How disappointing! Emma.x
Busybird
Yes it was Lyndhurst. I should have known really. We walked past a car dealership that seemed to stock nothing but those hugely expensive sports cars that footballers drive - DS1 was particularly taken by a ferrari that cost £85,000 second hand. There were proper shops - a chocolatier, butchers, wine merchants, boutiques as well as the gift shops and old fashioned sweetie shops. That fluffy chicken was calling to me I have been looking on line and have found one for closer to £30 - still very expensive though, especially as our real ones cost half that and lay eggs...
