Looney
Ok, so I know there have been a few related topics.....I won't mention flags etc I promise! I'm quite looking forward to the World Cup. I'm not an avid football fan but enjoy watching the occasional game. But I do like the World Cup because of the general excitement that goes with it. I also love looking at the players names (I am a former languages student) and trying to lip read some of the comments they shout at each other I also enjoy seeing the different styles of football Oh, and some of the hairstyles are quite erm, interesting! I drew South Korea in the work sweepstake....not the best chance of winning then eh?! I get £1 for any matches they win, 50p for any they draw and £8 if they win the whole thing. I might get a bit of my £2 back......maybe?

Griffin
I'm not a huge football fan, much prefer my racing, but I'll watch a few matches. I'm actually quite looking forward to tomorrow. I'm the deputy manager of the local bookies and will be running the shop tomorrow and I just know we'll be busy taking heaps of football bets. The local lads will be beside themselves with excitement One of my customers is an ex-footballer himself, used to play for his national team, and his enthusiasm for the game is infectious, I'll have a good chat with him tomorrow about Englands chances. I expect though that everyone will watch the match in the pub and I'll be all on my own in the shop! Mr Griffin isn't a football fan either so I don't have to worry about him having the telly on constantly, night after night, for the next four weeks
theherd123
According to our local news tonight, the pubs in the city will be full to capacity by 3pm in anticipation of kick off tomorrow. Must be said I do hope we win as there will be enough drunk folk on the streets to cause trouble without them being angry drunk folk at losing! Isnt it always the minority that spoil it! I do feel for our police, ambulance and A&E workers whenever there is a big event like this. We will probably watch at home tomorrow after a BBQ and a few glasses. Please let the sun shine! Looney
I agree about there being a minority of people that tend to spoil things for others. I used to work in a pub and had to deal with quite a lot of agression from customers purely due to the football scores I will be avoiding pubs so will hopefully be clear of any "over-emotional" (and drunk) fans! It would be nice if England could come out of this with a positive reputation due to fans behaviour regardless of how the team performs....wait and see I guess
Seagazer
I started watching a couple of the matches with the boys but the noise of the trumpet things are really annoying me. Not the same with the sound muted either. I'm not a football fan by the way, just trying to be a supportive mum Now watching the TT - whilst surfing the net. Can you tell our other tv is not working.
