baublegirl
Nasty Mr Fox came and killed poor Delilah through the Omlet netting last Friday. RIP Delilah The other hens were out, but didnt appear to have seen anything/be affected. However on Sat morning when I let them out (always supervised now) they both just dropped eggs on the grass - one was very soft. There haven't been any more eggs since then. Is that normal after a shock? Also - as they're ex-batts and so may not live very long anyway, do you think I should adopt two more now to ensure I don't get into a single hen situation? They have an eglu inside a 9x6 WIR with a small free range area too. Ta
Chucky Mama
Sorry to hear your news. I think that it is pretty common for eggs to be effected by stress like this.
freaky chick
hens usually get really of put by anything different one of my friends used to keep a count of all the eggs that their chooks layed, every time that they went on holiday the egg count would drop by about half!!!!! it's not the same i know but you get the general idea shocks and changes will definitly change their eggs and laying patterens. don't worry about it, they will get back to normal fairly soon
