Guest
Well I got my new pekin's saturday and one has a little bald patch. Looked at her yesterday and she had holes in her so I have ordered some anti pecking spray which has anti-sceptic in and it masks wounds and stops the pecking. She isn't bad but they wouldn't do it if there was no bald patch. She is tiny, the size of the palm of my hand.
Chook n Boo Mum
Rhys, when you say she has holes in her, do you mean the other girl have been pecking & causing more injuries.........I take it you have the 2 newbies in their own accommodation and run as they are so new to your flock..keeping them apart for the first week or so is good practice in case they bring any health issues with them which could be transferred to your older girls. If she's being pecked and blood being drawn then she needs to be separated until the wounds have healed, otherwise as you say, the other chook will carry on until she is in a seriously bad way . Good luck Sha x
Guest
Oh she is fine now. They haven't touched it at all. It has healed up they just peck her feathers but she stands up for herself now. I just got my spray that heals wounds and does work because our breeder uses it. I just was adamant not to let anything happen. Turns out they were just bored in the shed all day and only coming out at dusk so I made them a little run so they are out in the day now.
