AmberSky
After miss orange being unwell, i wonder if it would be beneficial to her and my other girls to feed growers pellets to get some fat on them so that if they get ill again at least they would not go down hill too fast due to lack of food. Egluntyne
It will be OK for a short while, but they need the calcium in the layers pellets.
AmberSky
What other way could i get some fat on them, feed wise?
Egluntyne
Scrambled egg, rinsed tuna, mealworms, organic cat food (not the dry sort) are a few suggestions.
Redwing
growers 50/50 with layers would be ok or 70/30 with layers and a mix of wheat and corn If you can get your hands on a small bag of chick crumb you can mix that with water and feed as a porridge in the evenings A small slosh of cod liver oil mixed with the food will also help Dry cat food on its own isnt recommended as Egluntyne says but you can soak it in water and feed that as a treat as its a bit less smelly than the canned stuff! AmberSky
growers 50/50 with layers would be ok or 70/30 with layers and a mix of wheat and corn Fantastic idea, ill get some growers pellets monday and mix in a little corn with the existing layers pellets and hopefully it will put a little girth on my girlies. i know layers are not supposed to be fat but it seems that they have so little meat on them a day or so of not eating and they go down hill rapidly. Thanks for the advise.
