Spottyappy
I haven't posted on here for ages, as been busy etc.So for give me that I post by when I have a problem, I do still read the boards. However, Pecks has now been bald for about 3 months. It is a long thin strip from her chest to vent, nowhere else. She nor her companion are pecking the area. She does sit in the dirt alot, so I am wondering if that has caused an irritation. We have tried numerous lotions, potions and creams but to no avail. The area is dry underneath but looks red and sore on the chest area. There is no scabbing, no blood or nothing else obvious just a lack of feather. Sorry, I have trouble uploading photos or I would try. In herself, she is fine and still laying. Any clues or ideas as to teh problem and what I could do to encourage the feathers to regrow would be really appreciated. Thanks.
beulah59
She will regrow them when she moults. If you've done everything else you can think of, I wouldn't worry
Tiggy
Saffy did this, I did catch Patsy having a go at her tail feathers, or whats left of them & some ant peck spray stopped that, she has been bald underneath for months & like you I tried all sorts thinking mites& skin probs, but she has now gotten rid of a lash she seems to be growing lots of fluffy news feathers again - Saffy is a little older than the others & had was only laying 2-3 x week, maybe she was just having a general rest. She is fine now still a little bald but much livelier,
Spottyappy
Thanks, hope you're right! My husband keeps worrying me by saying she'll get maggots in it, but as its not got any open areas, and isn;t scabby I hope he's just winding me up! Seems a long time to bald, to wait til the moult, but as she is fine in herself, you;re likely to know more than my hubby
